Hi, I’m Joe.headshot

I am an emerging higher education scholar-practitioner with professional and research interests in secular student development, student affairs assessment and the statistical competency of student affairs practitioners.

Currently, I am a graduate student in the higher education and student affairs (HESA) master’s program at Indiana University Bloomington. For my graduate assistantship, I serve Residential Programs and Services as the inaugural Graduate Assistant for Assessment and Special Projects. I also coordinate Thrive@IU, a new student program housed in Auxiliary Business Services. Other experiences include my service as a graduate supervisor (assistant hall director) and as a university conduct officer in the Office of Student Conduct. Before coming to IU-Bloomington, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in classical studies from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

After I wrap up my HESA degree requirements this May, I look forward to continuing my education by earning my M.S in Applied Statistics here at IU. During the summer and 2019-2020 academic year I will continue my role with Residential Programs and Services as the Graduate Assistant for Assessment.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, learning to play the Great Highland bagpipe, learning computer programming, and reading history and philosophy. I can often be found at various neighborhood coffee shops.

This site documents my development as a budding scholar-practitioner, including an outline of my growth in selected NASPA/ACPA competencies, artifacts of my academic and paraprofessional work, and more.  I welcome you to explore my portfolio further, and thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet!
